Miserable

I am nine and a half weeks pregnant, and I am miserable. I am constantly nauseous, exhausted, moody and constipated.

Here is what I look forward to when my first trimester is over:

Food tasting like, well, food, again,

Being able to eat fruits and vegetables without feeling like I am going to puke,

Significantly less intestinal discomfort,

Not having this constant sour, bitter taste in my mouth,

Being able to drink water without experiencing sharp stomach pains,

Not having a constant headache from being dehydrated because drinking water makes my stomach hurt,

Not gagging violently every time my toothbrush comes into contact with my tongue,

Not always falling asleep at my desk, on the couch, or in the car (don't worry, it only happens when someone else is driving),

Not feeling like I am going to burst into tears everytime I hear something even slightly sentimental (that one might last the entire pregnancy...),

Being able to go poo (again, this may not be resolved at the end of this trimester),

Less gas,

Having the energy to cook dinner, clean the bathroom, do the laundry, or vacuum (most of which haven't been done in the last 5 weeks),

Taking a shower without getting light headed and worrying about passing out,

and most importantly - no more throwing up.

Having said all that, I shouldn't complain. It is a blessing to be pregnant, and I should offer all my discomfort up for those who struggle to get or stay pregnant.

On a side note, if you are a woman and you have any siblings, you should have more than one child. Nothing will increase your appreciation for your mother like trying to care for a child while you are pregnant.

Mary, I'm sorry you are going through so much pain and suffering. As I am slowly recovering from my own recent ailment, I want you to know that you have my empathy and are in my prayers. Not being able to eat and having no energy is absolutely the worst, and I know how hard it is to keep faith that it will get better. I truly hope your second trimester brings you relief, because as happy as I am that you are pregnant, I also want you to be well.
